Handley Breaux Designs | Ginny & Hampe

When the sweetest bride ever marries her sweetheart, the entire town plus some come out to celebrate! Ginny & Hampe were married in September in Birmingham with a reception to be remembered by all. Ginny & her mom have a fantastic sense of style and we brought their vision of an indoor garden inspired wedding to life at the Country Club of Birmingham. Lush floral walls greeted guests upon their arrival and when they found their way to the light up dance floor, chances are they stayed there all night. The bride and her siblings even surprised everyone by getting on stage and performing one of their favorite songs! We truly wish we could go back and relive this night over and over again! Thank you Alisha Crossley Photography for capturing it so perfectly!

How did you and Hampe meet?

Ginny: Hampe and I grew up together and graduated from the same high school. We went off to separate colleges, and I never in my wildest dreams would have thought we would end up together, but am so happy we did. The Lord is so funny like that. We started dating long distance after college!

What was your favorite part of wedding planning? What was Hampe’s?

Ginny: My favorite part was the creative collaboration with everyone, starting with YOU to my mom who also has great ideas, to Buffy and Alisha and everyone else who contributed to the big day. Even picking out the paper and the programs, the songs and the scriptures - so many details!

I loved learning everyone's industries. It was so special to see the hard work (and I know there was lots of it!) come together harmoniously.

Hampe's favorite part was the cake tasting because that is the only part he chose to participate in (lol). He was really laid back, the only thing he actually cared about was making sure the band was fun, which they were!

What was the best piece of advice someone gave you about being engaged and / or wedding planning? What would you recommend to future brides?

Ginny: The best advice I received was to savor every second of the planning process! Hiring a wedding planner was the best decision we made! It helped take the strain off of my mom and I, so we were able to get excited with the planning process instead of frustrated with each other. It can be difficult and challenging at times, but what is waiting for you at the end is so worth it. My advice to future brides would be you can't please everyone, as much as you want to! At the end of the day, it's your day, and you have to enjoy and be confident in all the choices you made throughout the process.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

Ginny: I really do not know how to pick my most favorite part of the day! Everything was so special. Having a relaxing day at the house I grew up in while we all got ready. I loved that everyone at the church sang my favorite hymn, In Christ Alone, together. I loved having a first look with my dad, my bridesmaids and Hampe. I loved wearing my moms veil, and having pieces of my grandmothers dresses wrapped around my bouquet. I loved eating dinner privately with Hampe before we went to our reception. I loved that the minister made us look back at everyone in the sanctuary in the middle of our ceremony. The first dances! THE LIGHT UP DANCE FLOOR! I loved getting on stage with my siblings and singing 'Dancing Queen' to really kick off the night. The late night snacks and signature drinks that were odes to our college alma matters. The sparkler exit! Having you and Maggie and your whole team execute everything flawlessly. If anything went wrong, I was not even aware of it. Y’all handled every detail perfectly so my family and Hampe and I were able to soak up and relish every special moment.
